transmission case repair

my gearbox leaks oil past the mounting bolt the bolt was to long and made a hole in the case

what is the best repair welding or something like jb weld

JB weld is a bandaid weld is permanent.

G'day,

I'm with the Concrete Guy. Do it once, electric weld it, redo the insert.
May have to machine or carefully regrind the inside to correct levels or spec
When you weld it mount it to your base plate first. May stop some distortion, although
you're not going to get anything much there.

Is that from your 55? Haven't seen a progress post lately. :D

On my 49 case that is the only bottom hole that wasn't all buggered up and did not go through the bottom of the case. Had the 4 mounting holes plus the oil drain filled, redrilled and tapped. Agree with the others. You got it this far apart, do it right the first time.

thanks I'm gone find me a alu welder and do it right

Pete, i just woke up out of my wintersleep :lol: the tranny is for my 55 but that is a very slow project
