Suicide shift conversion

Post by MS-Geek » Sat Apr 09, 2011 9:48 pm

Hi,
New to this forum. I hope I don't annoy everyone, having 4 evo's I'll probably have a lot of questions about the Panhead.
I picked up a '48 Panhead on a 57 frame, it's a bobber but I may eventually try to make it original (when I win the lotto).
Anyway I'd like to change the jockey shift to a hand clutch\foot shift for now. No front brake and my driveway on a big hill don't go well with this setup  .

Does anyone know of a kit for this, aftermarket or Harley?

Your bike already has a ratchet top transmission so a foot shift conversion is a piece of cake. You can go with a stock mousetrap or an eliminator, either will work fine. The shifter pedal and bracket are common either in aftermarket or original parts. none of it is terribly expensive and it could be done in a day!

Cool Bike, one thing that would save your spine would be some springs under that seat! Watch out for sunken man holes...Mike

Already bought the springs. Just need to move the oil filter and bolt them on.
