Accessory brake lights mounted under solo seat

#1

Post by james » Tue May 12, 2009 1:49 pm

Does anyone know the proper way to wire up a set of accessory brake lights under a solo seat on a 1952 Pan? Actually Im looking for the correct placement of the wires. I know how to mount the lights and wire them up but I want to make it the way it should be.
Do the wires travel the length of the seat tee then down to the circuit board under the coil? Is there a clip to attach to the seat tee?
Not sure

Im also having a hard time understanding how to put a picture on this sight.. :?:

Thanks, Jim

jim,

why brake lights instead of running lights?

i run mine with a quick disconnect under the seat to prevent the wires from rubbing at the front of the seat T. they were never factory installed so i figured it is anyones guess as how the wires were routed.

when i have ridden behind my bike the accessory lights are quite bright. i figured that is safer than a dim taillight and then lighting everything up when you hit the brakes.

in order of connection mine are: lamp, disconnect then into the terminal board under the seat. i used nos cloth covered red tail lamp wire. for the quick connect i just used common modern connectors and removed the plastic parts and replaced with old fashioned friction tape for a period correct look.

hope this helps and welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the help. How did you get your seat to sit that low, mine sits much higher?
