Has anyone ever seen a set-up like this ? Wondering if it's a 'period correct' piece.

Sure Rick, those are period correct, for a 1950 boat trailer.

Seriously, those have probably been on that '49/'50 bike for a LONG time. If they were added as an accessory, and they were available at the time the bike was manufactured, they are ignored during AMCA judging. The owner might take a slight hit for the rusty condition they are in unless the bike is being presented as an unrestored original and the rest of the bike has the same patina.

Every bike that goes through the AMCA judging process developes a portfolio that stays with the bike and is presented each time the bike is shown. The owner can, and SHOULD, include any valid documentation which explains things about the machine that might be questionable. If there was a copy of an accessory catalog page from the period which showed that those lights were sold as motorcycle signal or running lights it would be helpful. Even if, and especially if, they were not H-D accessories.

Mike, the lights are newly acquired. Interestingly, the slots line up perfectly with
the motorcycle plate holes. I think that car & trailer plates were much bigger.

Rick,
I was only kidding about the boat trailer, those do appear to be a motorcycle accessory. And, as noted, the hole spacing aligns with a bike plate mounting bracket.

As I said above, what would be the clincher is to find the catalog page that listed the WINK-LITE when those were on the market, it would date them and establish the "period", and also verify that they were indeed motorcycle accessories.

Kind of neat, I've never seen one before.

I am wondering the same thing? was it an aftermarket turn signal?? or just maybe a flashing running light?? the cover is rivited on so i will have to investigate and pull it appart. it obviously is more than just lights with the box on the back holding what I am guessing is a flasher?? I have tried online to track down the K-D company with no luck

I think K-D is still in business.

Are there any numbers or codes on the lens? Like a trade name or something? Glass? Plastic?

Here is a neat site I found a while ago when I was looking for a Studebaker lens code from the '30s, it has a section for some of the tail lights that Guide made for Harley and other bikes. Kind of interesting, take a look.

The lenses are Glass with no visible markings and are about three inches from tip of lense to back of housing. clearly visible is some original black paint on the housing still although could have been painted at one time. I was trying to find KD LAMP online with no luch as to a contack email or number to ask them if they new anything??
