On E-bay now. Can't tell how big they are. Are they big enough for a panhead ?

Those are not Buco, they are H-D. And they are really small as they are for the 165 lightweights! And not even in the realm money wise that he is asking! That type came out along with the speedball type ( Speed King) for big twins, although the trim on them is plastic. They first appear in the '54 accessory catalog.

Rick,
Robbie is correct, those were sold buy the MoCo for the lightweight bikes. Sorry about the low resolution pic, I'll try to find a better one.

those '54 165s were easy to handle and had plenty of pep, just what you needed when you hit the open road for vacation. when you go in for the free test ride make sure you ask about the easy payment plan. and it didn't matter if you walked to school or carried your lunch, those snazzy saddlebags had plenty of room for your brown paper lunch sack.

and by the way, when I hit the open road on one of my "hummers", I carry everything I need in my pockets, don't need any of those pricey saddlebags!

Your lucky if you could fit your lunch in them, nevermind the soda,& 2gs for plastic-trim no-less! Maybe its just me, I can see there in imaculate condition!, but 2gs? - Can they really get that much for those bags? If there original?---Something just dont sit rite with me on that/ & there not even Bucos! --58flh

I don't care that they are represented as being NOS, they just look to perfect for being 57 years old. Call me a skeptic. If it seems to good to be true, it usually is, except for the price. There is a reason people sell on line other than for the exposure. For that kinda money I want to hold em and personally inspect em before buyin. Why hasn't someone local to the seller jumped on em yet?....bosheff

Probably since they are 165 bags They would be more than 1/3 the value of the whole bike!
I think they are real merely since no repops of those bags have ever existed. And I've seen older stuff that looked as good. But the price?? Not realistic.

yep, a nice (and it would have to be REALLY nice) 165 is worth about $6000 in today's dollars, so those bags at $2K would be worth about 1/3 the value of the whole bike.

here's a scan of the inside back cover of the 1955 lightweight parts catalog. If you round that $18.75 up to an even twenty bucks that would be a 1000% appreciation in value in a little less than 60 years. pretty good mark-up in my opinion! Worth it?, I don't think so!
