Special front exhaust pipe?

Something I always wondered was,is there a special front exhaust pipe you run when you have a side hack?On my bike and every other bike I seen,the front pipe blocks the use of the sidecar loops.If I wanted to use a sidecar,I would have to flatten the pipe where the sidecar mount would go in the front frame loops.

So pretty much just wack a dent in the pipe I got?

Hog, just take it easy and think it though. You can make a real mess of things quick. The dent dosn't even have to be that deep. Heat the area cherry and ca-dunk it. Mark the area with soap stone so you can see your target before you hit it with the torch. Bob L

I have had the best success with a round steel bar inserted through the frame loop and levered into the hot pipe creating a nicely radiused divot for the mounting bar. I am sure there are many ways to approach it.

yep, I used a shop press and a really big impact socket. But, I WAY overdid it, but it was a clapped out pipe anyway and it works fine now.
Couple of things I made note of for the next tiime I do this: 1. Mark the pipe carefully before you start whacking or pressing your dent into it. 2. Don't overdo it, you don't need much relief to clear the sidehack cross bar. 3. if you have a slinky on the front pipe remember to shorten it and install it again before you assemble the exhaust. (I forgot :oops: )

Thats what I was thinking of doing,but using a smaller deep socket.
