Exhaust pipe clamps

#1

Post by Demoman » Sat May 22, 2004 1:36 am

Putting the correct exhaust on my 64 FLH. Where do all the exhaust clamps go? I know each muffler gets 2 but what about the front pipe and the squish pipe. Do any of these get clamps and what are the bolted to?

Thanks for the help.

Demoman:
On my '64 I put clamps as follows. I believe this is correct. Single exhaust.
Exhaust pipe spigot at head; front pipe gets a P clamp down low that is bolted to a P clamp around the right downtube. The flats of the P's go together, pointing up to the motor. They fit on my bike right down near the motor mount. The one on the pipe also holds up the corrugated pipe cover. No clamp at either end of squish. One clamp at front of muffler to pipe, and one at hanger for muffler. And of course the rear exaust spigot.
The two P clamps barely fit, but the do work out. Hope this helps. Dan
