What do I have to remove to take the distributor out of a '54 pan with '50 heads?

Undo the timer cable, remove the timer cover, remove the timer cover clip, remove the top section spring clip located under the timer, disconnect the wire to the coil, pull the top timer assembly off the base while fishing the wire through, then you only have the bottom base to deal with. Remove the base bolts then remove the timer base. You can mark certain timing spots as you go as to install them back to where you found it.
Am I missing something? Trying to think, what else is in the way. Maybe he front exhaust push rod?
Let me know

Thank you James!
I was missing the point of the spring clip under the timer assembly until I pulled the cover clip out and the lower clip fell down on top of the case. Then the assembly pulled right up and off so that I could get a look underneath. I wanted to replace the old ugly wire with a fresh one.

Good post!
