Which coil

#1

Post by Eric » Sun May 08, 2011 10:43 pm

I'm running a Mallory Unilite with 1.5 ohm coils and have went through two modules. Could the size coil be causing this? If so what is the best coil to use 3 or 5? Also is a ballaster required The coils I'm running now are Dynatech dual coils.
Thanks
Eric

One 3ohm coil is what you need, Dyna DC6-1, I believe that's the part number. It's the green one. No ballaster required, I just checked that with Mallory.

I just added a ballaster to the system and it finally fired up. I was hoping that was a fix. But back to square one. I tried to fire it up hot and it seems like nothing is there. Plugs are firing so maybe I have a fuel problem too. I am running dual plugs and dual coils. If you run dual coils do the sum of the 2 coils (1.5 +1.5) give you the 3 ohms?

That I don't know. Either someone here who does will or wait till tomorrow and check with Mallory. They have a tech department that could help.
