Fork Seal Removal

Post by doin » Tue Mar 13, 2012 4:14 am

Hydra-glide fork seal removal - all I have found is 'pry them out' but that is easier said than done.

Is there a trick to prying out the seal without damaging the slider?

What tool works best for this?

Pry them out with the largest screwdriver you have.
Put a rag between driver and slider.

A slide hammer with a hook attachment works best, no need to pry on the leg that way.

This one works well, too. You can find it at any auto parts store.
(Ditto on protecting the edge of the fork slider.)
