Front fork slider oil seals

Post by 63 Duo » Tue Sep 05, 2006 3:56 pm

I am about to assemble my front forks for my 63 and i am trying to decide between two options concerning oil seals. I am lucky enough to have NOS factory oil seals with felt washers and all parts included and in pretty good (fresh) condition as far as i can tell. A friend mechanic tells me that it is better to use the EVO period oil seals for the sliders. These are same diameter but taller so i will have to leave out the felt washers. Sliders are hard chromed What do you think will work best ?

The newer replacements called an UPDATE kit, have (tripple or double ) lips for better sealing and do away with the felt seal. Definitly a step up in sealing ability for your fork tubes . I rebuilt mine with them and they are working great. Make sure your bushings are in good order , worn out bushings will test any seal beyond its capabilitys.
