52 FL Fork Caps

#1

Post by MikeL » Tue May 03, 2011 4:21 am

I have one vented cap and one non vented cap. The vented one is puking oil out the vent, this is obviously not right. I bought some new seals an they did not help. Should the caps be vented? If so do I have too much oil in the fork or can the cap be faulty? What about the non vented cap? The ride doesn't seem too bad. Any thoughts?

G'day Mike,

The caps should be vented, and within that the caps should be a simple valve staked into the bottom of the
cap. Removable and replaceable , the part and number is still available from the MoCo. This should not
leak, also the lower cap just under the top triple tree, there are baffles/deflector attached to a 5/16 rod with holes
in alternate sides of the baffles helping to stop the splashing oil rising to the cap area.

I purchased some new vented fork caps from a local dealer (Drag Specialties Part) and there is still oil oozing out of the cap vents. Any thoughts. One is worse than the other but they both leak.

The only thing that would cause that is to much fluid. Bob L
