Post by iflybyu » Sun Mar 06, 2011 12:36 am

Hi again,

I have a set of tanks here that came of a 64 duoglide. I am wondering if someone can tell me if they are authentic or not??

All H-D tanks up to '65 have the fuel valve rod through the tank with the knob in front of the left cap. No Panhead tanks have a crossover line under the dash. No Panhead tanks have barb fittings for rubber lines. Plus other things like mounting tabs, profile. etc.

my 65 tanks have the crossover line under the dash. does not appear to be a modification. tanks are original to bike, they have the rod thru tank petcock with steel crossover fuel line between tanks and steel fuel line to linkert.

Maybe Robbie should have qualified his statement just a hair that no Panheads "except the 65's" had vent lines. You know those 5-gal tanks are one year hens teeth.
The 65's had so many exceptions to the rules with first of this & last of that even Palmers stops short of their information.
But, those are not HD tanks pictured.

Just for clarity,

The 3.5gal tanks for '65 were the same as '63 and '64, with the through-tank petcock, and no vent line.
