Panhead Rear disc brake

Hi, Im trying to use the v-twin 22-0403 kit with a GMA 10" Caliper, anybody use it ? what is your opinion? Im dont find any information about the brake line I need, any help? Regards

You will have to fabricate your own brake line. Use a flex line from the caliper to a T fitting with a hydraulic stop light switch nerr the rear of the transmission and then a hard line forward to the master cylinder. I have used universal hard line from an automotive parts store and bend it as needed. I run it inboard of the frame being sure to keep it above the bottom of the frame, the scrub line, so as not to drag when up on a lift, or when riding over road surface obstructions, like curbs or speed bumps. Also be sure to allow about 1/2", 13 mm, clearance around the exhaust.
The MC pictured has a 3/4" bore, the GMA 5/8" MC works a little better and is what I use. The iron MC will be OK BUT you will need to open it up and REMOVE the hat shaped check valve to use with your disc caliper, otherwise the brake pads/pistons will not retract properly because that valve holds residual pressure in the hydraulic system. It is for drum brakes only....

DaCs, pardon for the intrusion, this is a issue for me too.

So that little part could have been my issue with dragging banana brake!

But no matter now, I have replaced the rear brake, and looking for a original Lockheed Wagner M/C to replace the aftermarket one, and I will leave the part out.

George....
Are you referring to the iron Wagoner, or the alloy Lockheed M/C? May I suggest either the original Harley 1980's vintage aluminum M/C that goes with your caliper, or a GMA M/C with a 5/8" bore. GMA lists them in both straight and staggered bolt pattern.

Aftermarket.....and I am on the lookout for a original L-W m/c to replace the aftermarket one. Looks like I have the same repo kit...Exactly like the one in the above photo.

Except I am now using a Harley rear 2 piston brake caliper and bracket.

The OEM version of that master cylinder is made of cast iron and is marked "WAGONER" on the side. It is 3/4" bore,and worked with the banana calipers, but then Harley went with an alloy M/C post banana. ....

I don't think Harley associated the name Lockheed with Wagoner.

The later alloy M/Cs used by Harley were Kelsey-Hayes brand. V-Twin lists their KH style M/C in both 5/8 and 3/4 bore sizes.

Hey, guys:

It's "Wagner", not "Wagoner".

And at least some of the master cylinders say "WAGNER LOCKHEED", in two lines, on them.

From what I understood here, my master cylinder is 5/8 and perfectly compatible with that GMA brake?

3/4 or 5/8 will work just fine, I have used both, the 5/8 just gives more line pressure with less pedal effort, but it is basically unnoticeable unless you were to do back to back tests. I was a hustler and a trader, so I just kept changing out parts until I found something I liked, and then I stayed with it,,,,

Rather than start a new thread I could use some info on rear rotors.
I installed a softail rear caliper and a stop for it. I need a 11 1/2" rotor and the hub is 2" diameter. Most of the rotors I'm finding don't give much in the way of dimensions and many have 2 1/2' hole rotors, so I'm wondering what year hubs used a 2" hole rotor?

OEM Harleys 1973 and newer used the nominal 2" center hole until you get into the Late Evos & Twinkies. Many aftermarket rototrs have the larger hole but come with a reducing ring to fit the 2" hub. So, basically, anything for a Shovelhead will work for your app....

PS: I just measured several hubs and rotors I have on hand to verify what I'm telling you....
