My '55 Panhead

Hello, and greetings from Finland!

I decided to start a topic of my Pan build, as I've been a Hydra-Glide forum member just as a reader. I've been working with Harleys ever since I finished my army service in 2011, but this is my first build in this scale, and my first truly old bike. A lot has changed, and practically everything has been overhauled and fixed. When I got the bike it was traditional 80s-90s style Scandinavian chopper. I saw potential in it, as it had so much original parts compared to other pans that I had been looking. So I made a deal of it in February 2016 and since it has gone over major surgery. Here is a pic from previous owner, this is how the bike was when I got it

Bike has original 49-51 Wishbone frame, which I'm planning of restoring after I graduate. 1946 dated Knuck/BTSV transmission with rachet top lid is another thing to mention about. I'm trying to get the bike together alongside of school, the spring is coming way too fast. Didn't get too much to ride last summer as the rear head smoked seriously. Fixed it so should run fine now. Not much to do anymore, just need to arrange some time to wrench.

Today I had a short day at school, so I started to make new exhaust pipes. Trying to finish them tomorrow, next job will be rebuilding front end.

I like the yellow version much more than the black...

Me too. I was gonna keep it as a chopper, but the frame was so poorly chopperized I thought I might as well do it again, as a traditional style Pan. Also I thought as it is a original wishbone it would be a shame to left it chopperized. Here in Finland pans with original frames are rare, so I think I made the right decision, and as I wrote before I'm going to restore it in the future. For now, it is what it is, as the neck was ruined by previous owners, but totally better than before.

I've been kinda between a rock and a hard place with this one. As a student I can't really afford to build this anymore, but I'm quite done with building it. On the other hand I've been planning a trip to the States to get a bike there'd ride it across the country, but to fund it I would have to sell this one. Choices..
