1965 AUXILIARY SPRING SUPPORT BRACKET

#1

Post by Newt69 » Tue Nov 27, 2018 6:08 pm

I'm having a hard time finding one of these. My seat has the spring setup on it but I need the spring support that attaches to the frame. I have found many with just the holes in them but I need the slotted with retaining clip(1965). Any help with finding one of these would be appreciated.

I wish I knew the part number. None of my books list it. So far all I know is it was used early ‘65-‘67.

There is one on eBay! A bit spendy, but they are rare.

The part numbers are:
52577-65 left
52578-65 right

The bottom spring stud with the shoulder that clips in is :
52607-65 two needed.

From my '65 parts book. 2 degrees here this AM, not too nice to walk out to the unheated shop and look!

Thank you Rubone. I have the 58 to 68 parts book and it does list those numbers. They just don’t show a pic of the part so I wasn’t sure if it was the right part number. Even with the parts numbers I’m not having any luck finding the parts. :(

They decided early on to do away with the clip style as they were a pain to engage and disengage. You have to open the clip, lower the springs and engage the stud, then snap the clip back in place to hold it together. They bent and broke easily if manhandled. I have had a set in the past, long ago, and don't have any idea where they went. I ran a Comfort-flex on my '65 so they didn't stay on it. The studs are also hard to find. The later stuff is everywhere.

If it was the trailer guys book I had tried to buy the '67 supplement but he wanted to sell them together. Is that the one you got?
