Never was impressed with the tall base nuts, clearance problems caused by the height, the ARPs are low profile, even shorter that the OEM stockers, but then, that's just me, and they are used with a washer, lock, or flat, your choice, but the split lock washers are OEM spec, so i use 'em....

BTW: Panhead '58 is too cool, brings back memories, yes it does.....

The base nuts that will be used are made by S&S, SnS deigned their jugs to be used with the S&S nuts ..
They are a bit shorter than most .. And must observe a speck on how far they are from the jug flange to the top of the stud, nuts have a blind hole, some trimming will go down ..

Ok .. Alright, here's what I gonna do ...

Going to be using ....

http://www.totalseal.com/videos/PistonAnimation.mp4

... on this motor build .

Got a 280 grit finish on the bore job at the moment, but with the Gapless rings going to knock off the tops by Plateau honing ...
With that finish on the wall will be seeing 2% or less leakage on a Leak-Down Gauge.
(Dang good ring seal)

Dat's my story and I'm sticking to it .. !!

Been waiting a long time for this day to come ...

Both jugs are bored and will be doing a mock up for some checks to go down ...
Whole new ball-game with these jugs, already did all the checks when we had the S&S jugs on the critter.. But, since we changed out those jugs to these, another look will be needed just to make double sure there will be no problems poking their ugly heads up ..

Hope to have the cases glued by the end of the day.. Still have the heads to set up with loading the Black Diamond valves and packing the springs for the Leienweber cam grind, running down all the checks and doing the mods on them is time consuming ...

Also got a bit of a wait for the Total Seals rings to show up .. In order for them to make the Gapless Rings, I had to wait till the bore job was done cause they needed to know what the final size of the finish bore is ...

After 4 years that we started on this endeavor, I finally can see a light at the end of the tunnel ..

I'm a Dealer for W&W Cycles ...
As of yet, I haven't sold any of those "KICK-ASS" starter kits ...

Kinda got the HOTS for one to install on my '52 ..
But they think highly of em and are up there in price ...
Hoping to hit up on Lotto, first check will be going for one of these ..

I wonder if the required battery fits in the stock oil tank?

The Oem oil tank is retained ..
W&W recommends the use of Antigravity 12 or 16-cell batteries

Modern gel or Li-Ion batteries offer a significant advantage - they are leak-proof. Those who ever experienced spilled acid in their horseshoe oil tanks will highly appreciate this fact. On the other hand, owners of classic bikes do like the looks of their original energy store and the corresponding cover and mounts. With a Bates BattBoy Battery Box you can have the best of both worlds, because what looks like a period type HM5 6V accumulator on the outside can house a safe, modern battery within. Just hook it with two eyelet wires to the terminals on the bottom of the lid and you are all set. Perfect for 6 to 12 volts electrical system conversions, too. When using suitable Antigravity versions you even have some storage room left for a few small spare parts, safety vest, Cuban cigars, etc. Ain´t this one heck of a cool solution for an old problem?
