1st Test ride!!!

#1

Post by George Greer » Fri Oct 11, 2019 4:02 pm

Hi all....

Good news to report, weather broke for a bit and the sun has came out and it is actually quite nice outside.

So, 1st test ride.......

Items to address are:

Hand clutch lever and booster adjustment, hope to fix that this weekend.

Carb adjusting, she ran good, and I did not know how much "pull" it had till I throttled her up, impressed and big shit eating grin when I shifted into 2nd.

Foot shifter, adjusted too low, took care of that but only got up into 3rd gear, smooth shifting, no clunking and /or any weird noises.

Chains, seem to be where I set them at in the beginning.

Rear brake seems to be dragging a bit, will look into that.

So far....

I am quite happy.

Rode it the 2nd time and a little bit further, and brought her home.

Shot all the surfaces with a digital thermometer, and everything seems ok, and front and rear cylinder and heads are within 5 degrees of each other.

You guys ROCK!!!

George

Great news from you George ! ! !
Digital thermometers are nice. I'm using mine to sort out the factory air conditioning on my 1973 Ranchero I'm upgrading to 134A refrigerant. It's a handy tool to have....

Fellas, here she is.

Look at that spooked look on the 2nd pic........did not realize the kicker pedal had rotated on me, and when I put the leg down........well, had to move it outboard a tad bit more.....lol

Gotta fix that, and I also got to find the correct kicker arm for it.......the one I got is something that was is a box of parts, now I would like to have one that fits closer ie...less of a outward bend.

Wanted to ride today, and get some time on her, but fall's here and household chores have now taken over as priority........BUT.....it's legal, I can ride it when I want to now!!

George....
There's a little wave spring and a bushing that goes in the kicker pedal to hold it retracted. They tend to lose their tension and quit functioning, but it's nice while it lasts....
